How would you describe your Training and Education?

Gianna earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 2024. She completed her practicum and internship through the COMPASS program, providing individual and group counseling, as well as academic support, to college students diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. She also interned with the SURE (Substance Use Recovery and Empowerment) program at the Mental Health Association, offering individual and group counseling to adults with co-occurring substance use disorders. Through these experiences, Gianna utilized a variety of therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based approaches.

How would you describe your Professional Approach and Style?

Gianna approaches counseling with a “human first, counselor second” philosophy, understanding how isolating it can feel to navigate life’s challenges alone. She collaborates with clients to explore their past, present, and future, helping identify areas for growth and develop actionable steps toward progress. Emphasizing progress over perfection, Gianna supports clients in recognizing their strengths and the positives in their lives to foster lasting, meaningful change. Drawing on current training, supervision, and evidence-based practices—including CBT, DBT, MI, ACT, and mindfulness—she helps clients gain insight into their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, enhancing self-awareness and overall quality of life. Committed to a person-centered approach, Gianna meets clients where they are, cultivating a strong therapeutic alliance within a positive, non-judgmental, and supportive environment.

What areas would you say you have Expertise in?

Gianna has experience working with adolescents and adults across a broad spectrum of mental health and substance use concerns. She specializes in supporting clients managing stress, anxiety, depression, life transitions, and addiction, providing tailored, evidence-based care to promote resilience, insight, and lasting personal growth.

On a Personal Note

Outside of sessions, Gianna enjoys spending time with her cat, Nola, playing video games, and performing in symphonies and orchestras on the flute and piccolo. These activities allow her to stay creative, engaged, and balanced outside of her professional work.
